PURPOSE: A method for correcting a preferred color and a display apparatus using the same are provided to improve the preferred color display quality of a multi-primary color wide gamut display by sequentially adopting a preferred color mapping algorithm and a color region expansion algorithm in a uniform color space. CONSTITUTION: Based on various gamut expansion algorithms, the color region of a calculated LCH value is expanded into an LCH color region(S3). On the basis of a preferred color detection algorithm, the preferred color is detected in the input image of the LCH value. Based on a preferred color mapping algorithm, the preferred color is adjusted into an LCH value. In a uniform color space, the LCH value is reversely converted into an L*a*b value through a reverse converting algorithm(S5). Through the CIEXYZ reverse converting algorithm, the L*a*b value is reversely converted into an XYZ value(S6).
