PURPOSE: A liquid hydrocarbon resin is provided to act as a thickening agent when used for coating and painting with curable materials and to improve stability to ultraviolet rays, heat resistance, compatibility, water resistance and chemical resistance. CONSTITUTION: A liquid hydrocarbon resin, based on the content of solid portion comprises 5-20 weight% of 1,1,3-trimethyl-3-phenyl-indane, 1-15 weight% of 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-15 weight% of,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-2-penetene, 5-40 weight% of 2,4,6-triphenyl-4,6-dimethylhept-1-ene, and 5-40 weight% of 2,4,6-triphenyl-4,6-dimethylhept-2-ene.
