PURPOSE: A composition containing Sophora Japonica L. extract is provided to prevent or treat menopausal disorder and to promote estrogen secretion. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating menopausal disorder contains 0.001-30 weight% of Sophora Japonica L. extract as an active ingredient. The Sophora Japonica L. extract is obtained from fruit of Sophora Japonica L. using water, alcohol of 1-5 carbon atoms, ethyl acetate, hexane, dichloromethane, chloroform, methylene chloride or mixture thereof. The composition is used in the form of powders, granules, tablets, suspensions, emulsions, or health foods.
