To hold data stored in the image data storing unit, refresh processing, which is to perform processing intermittently required to hold the data stored in the image data storing unit, is performed at a predetermined execution frequency. After the image data is output, frequency to execute the refresh processing is reduced as compared to a predetermined execution frequency to perform writing of the dummy data.

An information processing apparatus, comprising: a processor and a memory; a storing unit configured to store image data; a writing unit configured to write image data in the storing unit; a reading unit configured to read the image data stored in the storing unit; a refresh processing unit configured to perform refresh processing at a predetermined frequency to hold the image data stored in the storing unit; and a control unit configured to control the writing unit to, after the image data is read from the storing unit, overwrite dummy data on the image data read from the storing unit and control a frequency of the refresh processing, wherein a first frequency of the refresh processing, when overwriting the dummy data on the image data read from the storing unit, is less than a second frequency of the refresh processing, when the image data read is stored in the storing unit, wherein the processor and the memory cooperate to function as the writing unit, the reading unit, the refresh processing unit and the control unit.
