<p>The invention relates to engine clutches (100). The clutch includes a drive shaft (216) rotated by the engine, an eccentric shaft selectively rotated by the drive shaft (216), a clutch fluid, a plurality of pistons, and a fluid regulator. The eccentric shaft (218) is positionable in an opening of the drive shaft (216) for rotation thereby. The eccentric shaft (218) has cylinders extending radially therethrough and a central channel (282) extending longitudinally therethrough. The clutch fluid (221) flows between the cylinders and channel. Each piston (266) is slidably positionable in a cylinder in response to flow of clutch fluid. The pistons (266) have an outer end in constant contact with the drive shaft (216) via a bearing (262). The fluid regulator (267) is positionable in the central channel (282) for selectively restricting flow of clutch fluid (221) whereby rotational speed of the eccentric shaft (218) is adjusted. The eccentric shaft (218) is connectable to a device, such as a fan (278, 164a), for rotation therewith.</p> |
