The tool (SW) has a housing (GH) and a percussion anvil/striking mechanism arrangement (SA) reciprocatively driven by a driving device (AN) along an axis (A) in a forward direction (V) or a rearward direction (R). The device is formed by a magnet (J), an induction coil (D1), and a spring that sets a striking mechanism (C) into a resting position. The coil is formed during current flow for deflecting the striking mechanism along the axis in the forward direction from the resting position. A control device is formed for embossing a periodically changing current flow by the coil.
