The present invention relates to a method for propelling a vehicle when said vehicle is moving off, which vehicle comprises at least one powered wheel for propelling said vehicle and also comprises an electric motor adapted to generating turning moment which propels said powered wheels. The method comprises the steps of : - a) using said electric motor to impart turning moment which propels said powered wheels in a first direction, - b) determining a representation of a grip on said running surface for said powered wheels, and - c) reversing the direction of rotation of said electric motor in order to impart turning moment which propels said powered wheels in a direction opposite to said first direction when said representation of the grip on the running surface for said powered wheels fulfils a first criterion.
