Provided is a high stiffness engagement chain unit wherein the inclination and buckling of a pair of engagement chains for linear operation are reliably restrained without the need to install an auxiliary guiding means for restraining buckling or inclination, thereby increasing durability, and wherein the chain engagement attitude is reliably maintained in a linear way, thereby realizing stable departure and return movements of a driven object. As an embodiment of the above, there is provided a high stiffness engagement chain unit (100) comprising a pair of engagement chains for linear operation (110) which become stiffly integrated together by engaging with each other by means of a pair of main sprockets (A) and which mutually disengage from each other by deviating from the chain engagement direction to the chain divergence direction, thereby flexibly diverging from each other; and a buckling restraining engagement chain (120) which laterally approaches the pair of engagement chains for linear operation (110) by means of an auxiliary sprocket (B), and which disengage from the pair of engagement chains for linear operation (110) and thereby diverge from the pair of engagement chains for linear operation (110).
