PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing images that improve quality of monotone images, and to provide an image capturing apparatus having the image processing apparatus.SOLUTION: A monotone generation step S14 in which monotone images are generated from digital color images and a color tone adjustment step S15 in which saturation of the image is suppressed according to the luminance of the image to suppress color, are provided. When generating monotone images, in the color tone adjustment step S15, the color suppression intensity in the high luminance side is made larger than that in the low luminance side to adjust color tone of the monotone images generated in the monotone generation step S14. |
