PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon fiber bundle, which prevents breaking and thickness unevenness of a polyacrylonitrile-based precursor fiber bundle, stably maintains the form of a polyacrylonitrile-based precursor fiber bundle traveling in a flameproofing furnace and has easy maintenance; and to provide an apparatus for producing a carbon fiber bundle.SOLUTION: The method for producing a carbon fiber bundle has a step for folding back a polyacrylonitrile-based precursor fiber bundle (fiber bundle) 11 at the outside of the flameproofing furnace 12 by folding rolls 13 and traveling the fiber bundle in a flameproofing furnace 12 to perform a flameproofing treatment and a step for carbonizing the fiber bundle 11; wherein a fiber bundle regulation members 15 equipped with grooves is arranged between the flameproofing furnace 12 and the folding rolls 13, and while the fiber bundle 11 is made to passe through the fiber bundle regulation members 15, an apparent average fineness per mm width of the fiber bundle 11 after the passing is kept at 2,500-5,000 dtex. |
