PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free high-octane-number gasoline taking an air environment into consideration and excellent in startability or driving properties of an automobile and cleanliness of an inspiratory valve.SOLUTION: This production method is for a lead-free high-octane-number gasoline comprising (i) 1 to 25 vol.% of ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), (ii) 2 to 50 vol.% of a benzene-eliminated catalytically reformed gasoline or (iii) 2 to 15 vol.% of a benzene-eliminated light catalytically reformed gasoline and a 2 to 50 vol.% of a benzene-eliminated heavy catalytically reformed gasoline, and (iv) 10 to 50 vol.% of a light catalytically cracked gasoline and containing a multi-cyclic aromatic component having 3 or more rings, characterized in that the gasoline is prepared by satisfying the following properties: (1) the research octane-number (RON) is 97 to 105, (2) the motor octane-number (MON) is 84 to 92, (3) the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) is 73 to 93 kPa, (4) the temperature at 50% distillation (T50) is 75 to 110°C, (5) the distilled amount at 70°C (E70) is 18 to 40 vol.%, (6) the aromatic content is 45 vol.% or less, (7) the olefin content is 25 vol.% or less, (8) the benzene content is 1 vol.% or less, (9) the sulfur content is 10 ppm by mass or less, (10) the vapor liquid ratio (V/L) at 60°C is 52 to 70, and (11) the multi-cyclic aromatic index is 6 or less. |
