<p>Disclosed are an automatic analyzer enabling normal liquid level detection and a method for determining whether the liquid level detection made thereby is normal or not. The automatic analyzer is provided with a dispensing device (6) comprising a dispensing probe (6c) for sucking a reagent using the liquid level detected by a liquid level detecting device as a reference, discharging the sucked reagent into a reaction vessel, and performing dispensing and a cleaning tank (7) for cleaning the inside and the outer surface of the dispensing probe after dispensing. The automatic analyzer allows the reagent and the sample to react with each other in the reaction vessel, measures an optical characteristic of the reaction liquid, and analyzes the sample. The automatic analyzer is further provided with a detecting device (20) for detecting a variation of a physical quantity corresponding to the reagent which the dispensing probe discharges and a determining unit (17b) for determining whether the liquid level detection made by the liquid level detecting device is normal or not on the basis of the variation of the physical quantity.</p> |
