PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect the amount of image misregistration by reducing error of detection of a pattern image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of image forming means for forming images in different colors from each other; a moving body for moving images formed by the plurality of image forming apparatuses so as to be respectively transferred at transfer positions; a pattern forming means for controlling the plurality of image forming means so that a plurality of pattern images are each formed in the direction crossing with the moving direction of the moving body so that a pattern image of another color is transferred to the moving body in between two pattern images of a prescribed reference color; a pattern detection means for detecting the pattern image that is transferred on the moving body; and a correction means for correcting the misregistration in the image of other color based on a detected amount of misregistration by detecting the amount of misregistration for the image of other color with respect to the reference color based on the output of the detection means. |
