The system (200) has an analog to digital converter (204) for converting an analog input signal into a digital intermediate signal with a bit resolution. A digital filter (206) filters the digital intermediate signal. A reduction unit (208) is provided for reducing the bit resolution of the filtered intermediate signal to another bit resolution, where the latter bit resolution is lower than the former bit resolution. The digital filter is designed as a band-pass filter, a filter with infinite impulse response or as a filter with finite impulse response. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a receiver for receiving position signals, comprising a signal processing device (2) a method for converting an analog input signal into a digital output signal.
