PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling the backlight of a display screen are provided to efficiently manage the backlight of an idle screen when widget content is updated in connection with a widget set on the idle screen. CONSTITUTION: A backlight checking unit(310) checks a backlight state of an idle screen when widget content is updated in connection with a widget set on the idle screen. A widget identifying unit(320) identifies a location of the widget after it is confirmed that a backlight state of the idle screen is turned off. A backlight controller(330) controls a backlight corresponding to the widget on the idle screen using the identified location. The backlight controller converts the backlight state of the entire off to partial lighting. |
