METHOD FOR START-UP OF EPOXIDATION PROCESS, CATALYST, AND EPOXIDATION PROCESS OF OLEFIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for start-up of an epoxidation process of an olefin using a high-selectivity epoxidation catalyst containing silver as the principal component.SOLUTION: There is provided the method for start-up of the epoxidation process of an olefin that includes (a) pre-soaking the high-selectivity epoxidation catalyst containing silver as the principal component with an organic halide and (b) passing over the pre-soaked catalyst a feed raw material which contains no organic halide or contains an organic halide at concentration of at most 2×10mol% calculated on the base of halogen content relative to the total feed raw material, for the period of 16-200 hours. The catalyst which is obtainable by the method and suitable for the epoxidation of an olefin is also provided. There is also provided an epoxidation process of an olefin including the method and a subsequent step to bring the catalyst into contact with the feed raw material containing the olefin, oxygen and the organic halide having concentration higher by at least 0.2×10mol% than the concentration applied in step (b) calculated on the basis of halogen content relative to the total feed raw material.
