摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine capable of dispensing with exclusive regeneration control such as post-injection of aiming at positioning regeneration of an HC adsorbing catalyst, capable of avoiding various evils caused by the exclusive regeneration control, and capable of preventing discharge of HC into the atmosphere by surely performing the HC poisoning regeneration before the HC adsorbing catalyst breaks through.SOLUTION: The HC adsorbing catalyst 6 is arranged on the exhaust downstream side of a DPF 5, and a period until the DPF 5 reaches a collection limit of a particulate is set shorter than a period until the HC adsorbing catalyst 6 reaches an adsorption limit of the HC, and forced regeneration is performed based on a particulate collection state of the DPF 5 before the HC adsorbing catalyst 6 breaks through by going over the adsorption limit, and the HC adsorbing catalyst 6 is regenerated by using an atmosphere of the high temperature generated in that case and of the lean air-fuel ratio.
