PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element excellent in light-emitting efficiency and light emission lifetime, and to provide a display device and lighting device that use the element.SOLUTION: In the phosphorescent organic electroluminescent element includes organic layers pinched between an anode and a cathode, at least one of the organic layers contains a low-molecular weight compound adjacent to the cathode; the organic electroluminescent element includes an electron transport layer formed through a film-forming process by a wet method, and the cathode formed through the film-forming process by the wet method by using a conductive paste containing an organic solvent which is saturated hydrocarbon of at least C6 to C17. A white organic electroluminescent element, a display device and a lighting device are also provided.
