PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of an Li-ion micro battery for achieving good electrochemical performance as compared with an Li-metal micro battery with chemical stability maintained.SOLUTION: The Li-ion micro battery includes a cathode, electrolyte and an anode, of which, the cathode has an Li-ion accumulative capacity Cand a first thickness (t), and that, is formed of a first Li-insertion material, and the anode has an accumulative capacity Cand a second thickness (t), and that, is formed of a second Li-insertion material. The thicknesses (tand t) are set so that a ratio C/Cis to be 10 or more and 1,000 or less. During the first charging of the micro battery, the Li-ion is inserted into the anode to completely saturate the second insertion material. During the initial charging, the Li-ion forms a metal Li layer between the electrolyte and the anode filled with lithium by electric plating. During the following charging and discharging cycle, only the metallic lithium layer gets involved in movement of the Li-ion. |
