PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst separation method in which a platinum group element-containing catalyst can be separated excellent by lowering the content of the platinum group element-containing catalyst in a hydride to ≤100 ppm.SOLUTION: The catalyst separation method includes a step (I) of preparing the hydride by a hydrogenation reaction of rubber latex in the presence of the platinum group element-containing catalyst, and a step (II) of mixing a counter ion of a platinum group element, an oxidizing agent and a reaction mixture obtained at the step (I) to oxidize the reaction mixture so that the platinum group element-containing catalyst contained/insolubilized in the reaction mixture is redissolved.
