The device (12) has a support part (16), and fasteners (26, 28) provided for an exhaust gas pipe (10), and two rubber bumps (22, 24) attached to side pieces (18, 20) of a V-shaped end area of the support part. An angle between the axes of the bumps amounts to 90 degrees. The fasteners are held at the support part under insertion of the rubber bumps such that a loading direction of one of the bumps (22) coincides with an axis of the other bump (24), and an axis that coincides with the loading direction of the latter bump (24) is spaced from the axis of the former bump (22). An independent claim is also included for an arrangement of an exhaust gas pipe at a support part of a motor vehicle comprising two retaining devices.
