The method involves displaying information in a vehicle (1) i.e. car, by a display device (6), and determining whether an object (16) is provided at a close area (24) of the vehicle. A graphic warning message is displayed by the display device, if the object is provided at the close area of the vehicle. The warning message of the actual information indication of the display device is half transparently and overlaidly represented. A position of the object relative to the vehicle is determined. Multiple selection options are assigned to the warning message. An independent claim is also included for a device for assisting a driver of a vehicle.
