PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a user's load when a firmware of an optical disk device is rewritten.SOLUTION: A recording medium includes information associating the version of the firmware of the optical disk device corresponding to the description of an optical disk with a plurality of types of optical disk devices and a rewriting program for rewriting the firmware. In the first place, first information showing the types of the optical disk devices and the version of the firmware is obtained. Second information showing the version of the firmware corresponding to the description of the optical disk is then obtained. Versions of first information and second information are then compared. When the version of the first information is older than the version of the second information, the firmware is rewritten to the firmware of a version corresponding to the description of the optical disk using the rewriting program. |
