PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device that enables a user to select contents without delay.SOLUTION: The information retrieval device includes: an operation input device 4 for detecting a content selection operation; an operation history storage unit 10 for storing history of the content selection operation input to the operation input device 4; a controller 5 for reading meta information of contents from a storage device 2; a meta information storage unit 7 for storing the meta information of the contents read by the controller 5; and a display 8 for displaying the meta information of the contents stored by the meta information storage unit 7. The controller 5 determines the meta information of the contents obtained from the storage device 2 based on the history of the content selection operation stored in the operation history storage unit 10, and stores the meta information from the storage device 2 in the meta information storage unit 7.
