PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for appropriately selecting a color mode and performing control corresponding to the selected color mode, and to provide a control program for the image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: Upon receiving a job request, a determination is made whether a stand-by state is carried out in a monochrome mode or color mode on the basis of the type of a received job request. Prior to execution of the received job request, the stand-by state shifts to the monochrome mode or the color mode.
