PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission element capable of emitting electrons under a comparatively low temperature and low extraction voltage, and to provide a method for manufacturing the electron emission element.SOLUTION: The electron emission element 2 is provided with an epitaxial structure 5 including diamond crystals, and the epitaxial structure 5 has a shape capable of being housed in a column, having a bottom with a diameter of 100 μm and a height of 1,000 μm. Furthermore, the electron emission element 2 is provided with a metal film 7 provided on an epitaxial film 6. Additionally, the epitaxial structure 5 contains n-type or p-type dopant. |
