PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively make a pair of brace members constituted by tension members function not only on the tension side but also on the compression side.SOLUTION: Equal pretension Nis introduced to both of the pair of brace members 3 (3a, 3b) constituted by a pair of tension members, and both ends of the brace members 3 (3a, 3b) are fixed on a structure frame. The pretension is set so that the pretension introduced to one brace member 3b on the compression side can disappear before the other brace member 3a on the tension side yields when the structure frame becomes deformed in one direction. Another pair of auxiliary brace members are additionally provided which operate when the pretension introduced to the brace member has disappeared and which compensate for a deterioration in the binding force of the brace member. |
