APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING MULTICAST COMMUNICATION IN BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for supporting multicast communication in a broadband wireless access system are provided to obtain a sufficient address for transceiving a multicast message. CONSTITUTION: A packet extractor(1206) extracts a MAC(Media Access Control) PDU(Packet Data Unit) from a received signal. The packet extractor decodes a MAC header in the extracted MAC PDU to detect an FID. When the detected FID is matched with a pre-allocated FID for multicast, the packet extractor decodes a confirmation header of a MAC PDU to detect an MFID(Multicast Flow IDentifier). The packet extractor obtains multicast service flow information using the detected MFID.
