PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively increase suction force while suppressing a size increase of fan, to obtain appropriate suction force according to an image mode or recording medium type and also to reduce noise.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a platen 113 with a plurality of suction holds 113 formed therein for applying suction force to the conveyance surface of a recording medium 101; a first fan 112 having a suction port connected to the suction holes and variably controlled at least in the number of rotations; a second fan 107 having a suction port connected to an exhaust port of the first fan and controlled at least in on and off states; and a control means 50 for controlling the number of rotations of the first fan 112 and the on and the off states of the second fan. Even in the case that the same suction force is obtained with the plurality of suction holes, control is exerted so as to change a combination of the number of rotations of the first fan and the on and off states of the second fan according to the image mode. |
