ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE DOOR

Connector system to be mounted through an opening in a panel, in particular through a panel (50) of a door assembly or an A- or B-pillar of a passenger vehicle. The connector system comprises a connector (10), a corresponding counter-connector (60) and a mate assist mechanism, which two connectors, i.e. the connector and the counter-connector, are designed so as to be mounted through the opening of the panel. If the panel is for example a part of the A- or B-pillar of a vehicle the counter-connector may for example be mounted from the "interior" side of the panel, and the other connector from the "outside" side of the panel. The mate assist mechanism allows both to reduce the efforts for mating the connectors and for at least partially retracting the system behind the panel, on the interior side of it.
