Process for separating carbon dioxide (CO 2) present in a gas mixture by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) comprises: contacting the mixture to be purified with at least one adsorbent formed of at least one porous carbon material comprising at least 70 wt.% of carbon, where the material has a specific surface area of greater than 1500 m 2>/g and a micropore volume of 0.5-2 cm 3>/g and 0.5-0.8 cm 3>/cm 3>; adsorbing carbon dioxide on the adsorbent having a total pressure P1; and desorbing at least a portion of CO 2to produce a flux enriched in CO 2having a total pressure P2 lower than P1.
