The present invention is directed to an omega fatty acid composition comprising one or more of a fatty acid selected from the group of omega-4 fatty acids and omega-7 fatty acids, characterized in that omega-4 and omega-7 fatty acids are present in at least 10% weight percentage of the total fatty acid fraction (TFAF) of the composition. The present invention is also directed to a process for obtaining the composition according to the invention, characterized in that the omega fatty acids are cultivated and stored in an algae biomass, either or not followed by extraction. The present invention is also directed to the use of a composition according to the invention in at least 10%, preferably 30% and more preferably 50% weight percentage of the total weight.
