An apparatus for selecting a terminal from a plurality of selectable terminals in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output communication system for transmitting data from a base station to the terminal, comprises a calculator and a selector. The calculator calculates a MIMO-subchannel gain parameter for each terminal of the plurality of selectable terminals. Further, the calculator calculates a weighted transmission rate based on a calculated MIMO-subchannel gain parameter, on a power parameter and on a weighting multiplier. The weighting multiplier depends on a Quality of Service constrain of the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output communication system. The selector selects the terminal based on the calculated weighted transmission rate.
