Power transmission monitoring method

The monitoring method involves connecting or disconnecting a drive engine (12) to or from the multi-speed transmission (16) via a friction clutch arrangement (14). A rotational speed parameter of a drive train (10) is determined whether to be greater than a first threshold value for a first predetermined time interval. A measure in the drive train is initiated in order to lower the rotational speed parameter if the rotational speed parameter is greater than the first threshold value for the first predetermined time interval.
