The method involves updating a value cyclically that represents the number of implausible target object losses. Another value representing time of an implausible target object loss is updated in cyclic. Both the values are compared with a predetermined threshold value and depending upon the comparisons a blindness indicating status bit is set. An independent claim is also included for a device for the condition recognition of a sensor system arranged at vehicle.
