PURPOSE: An electronic device for setting a virtual input area to the outside and an executing method using the same are provided to set up the virtual input area by selecting an object existed outside the electronic device. CONSTITUTION: A controller(180) recognizes the movement of an external object forming a closed line from an image acquired through a camera(121). The controller sets up a surface which is parallel to the closed line as a virtual input area. If the starting point of the external objects is within the specific distance, the controller recognizes the closed line.
