PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a data storing method thereof are provided to prevent the deletion of stored data of a storage medium by connecting the storage medium to a display device without additional format operation. CONSTITUTION: If a recording command is inputted, a control unit confirms the format type of a storage medium(S210,S220). If the format type of the storage medium is a first format, the control unit converts the data into the file data of the first format type(S230,S240). If the format type of the storage medium is the second format type, the control unit converts the data into the file data of the second format type(S250). The control unit stores the converted file data to the storage medium(S270).
