PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for determining a channel in a broadcasting receiver are provided to improve the accuracy of channel selection by calculating an estimation value of an SINR for each channel in a broadcasting receiver and applying the estimation value to a selection of a channel. CONSTITUTION: A control unit calculates a neighbor interference value from neighbor channels of Nth channel(811), and detects IMD(Intermodulation Distortion) suppression(815). If plural Lth channels and plural Kth channels exist, the control unit calculates total C IMD interference sum from the Nth channel. The control unit calculates an estimate of an SINR(Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio) of the Nth channel(827).
