The invention relates to a device (1) for the disinfection, sterilisation and/or maintenance of medical, in particular dental instruments (4). Said device has a washing chamber (3), a lid (6) for sealing the washing chamber and a locking mechanism (30) for locking the lid (6) to the washing chamber (3) during operation. The device is characterised in that the locking mechanism (30) has one or more clips (32) which are pivotally mounted about an axis (I) lying substantially perpendicular to the plane of the lid (6), in order to lock the lid (6) to the container (3). The clip lock comprises two clips (32) which have a common pivoting axis (I).
