<p>Disclosed is a novel method for altering the depth of flower color for the lighter or deeper. Specifically disclosed is a method for altering the depth of flower color of a plant for the lighter or deeper by varying the anthocyanin content in petals of the plant, which comprises a step of regulating the expression of type IV chalcone isomerase in the plant.</p>
