METHOD OF REMOVING COATING OF OPTICAL FIBER, MEMBER FOR REMOVING COATING, AND OPTICAL CONNECTION MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove coating with a small forcing load for an optical fiber having a highly tough coating.SOLUTION: In a method of removing coating of an optical fiber 1 wherein a coating 13 is removed from the cut end face of an exposed optical fiber 1, there are implemented: a first step in which a coating removing member 200 having an optical fiber insertion hole 11 for inserting the bare optical fiber 39 of the optical fiber 1 is pressed against the coating 13 of the optical fiber end face; a second step in which the coating 13 is pressurized in a manner that a stress becomes uneven from the center of the insertion hole 11 in the outer diameter direction to cause a crack in the coating 13; and a third step in which the coating 13 is torn in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber with the crack as a starting point by further pressing the coating removing member 200. The coating removing member 200 of the optical fiber 1 includes a coating remover 15 that is abutted on the coating 13 of the fiber end face. This coating remover 15 includes a square part in the abutting face in contact with the coating 13.
