PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device that can facilitate jamming processing, while shortening time for returning a state to the state where heating formation can be performed.SOLUTION: The image heating device includes a heating member for heating a toner image on a recording material in a heating nip portion; a pressing member for forming the heating nip portion in contact with the heating member; and a separating means for separating the heating member and pressing member from each other, during a standby period before a recording material is carried to the heating nip portion and during jamming occurrence in which the jamming of a recording material occurs in the heating nip portion. In the image heating device, the distance between the heating member and pressing member separated by the separating means is longer during the jamming occurrence than during the standby period. |
