PURPOSE: An electric contact material and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing costs and improve welding resistance and abrasion resistance using a non-electrolytic nickel-plated layer as material. CONSTITUTION: An electric contact material comprises base material and electrolytic/non-electrolytic alloy nickel-plated layers. The base material is made of nonferrous metal and metal material, having excellent conductivity. The metal material is one among Ag, Cu, Al, Fe, and Sn. The electrolytic/non-electrolytic alloy nickel-plated layers is formed on the surface of the base material using nickel as main material. The electrolytic/non-electrolytic alloy nickel-plated layers include one or more among Mo, Re, Pt, Au, B, Cu, W, P, C, Mn, and Co.
