PURPOSE: A method for washing a hot water tank is provided to reduce the after treatment for the remaining detergent by employing as cleaning agent not harmful for human body, such as ion exchange resin, shells of fishes and shellfishes, stone dust, and glass beads. CONSTITUTION: A method for washing a hot water tank is as follows. A water purifier or hot/cold water dispenser(200) is disassembled to open the top of a cold water tank(210). A cleaning agent is put into a hot water tank through a raw water feed pipe(226) of the water purifier or hot/cold water dispenser. A cleaning device having a pumping motor is connected to the hot-water tank. The cleaning device is operated to circulate water in the hot-water tank and clean the hot-water tank. The water and the cleaning agent used for cleaning are discharged through a water drain port(270) of the water purifier or hot/cold water dispenser.
