PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which facilitates the prediction of an own-vehicle position mark on a screen each time map image data are updated in a car navigation system which updates and displays the map image data only when the own-vehicle position mark moves out of a map on which it is displayed.SOLUTION: A vehicle-mounted apparatus of the navigation system updates only the position of the own-vehicle position mark while maintaining cut-out map image data each time coordinate data are received. A control part of a mobile terminal which creates the cut-out map image data determines the map direction of the cut-out map image data in accordance with the traveling direction of a route. This determines the start point and end point of the movement of the own-vehicle position mark, allowing an user to recognize a regular law including that the movement starts at a regular point and ends at a regular point and to predict the position of the own-vehicle position mark easily when a map image is updated.
