Examples of the invention relate to a method, an apparatus and a computer program for tracing software stored on a computing device. The software comprising at least one trace point. Each trace point being capable in use of outputting data to a trace collector and being assigned a security classification. The trace collector being associated with a security classification. The trace collector being granted permission to receive data output by a trace point if the trace collector is associated with a security classification at least matching the security classification of that trace point. The software being run so that data which the trace collector has been granted permission to receive is received at the trace collector.
