PURPOSE: A method for preparing lactate polymer and lactate copolymer using mutants of polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase is provided to produce lactate copolymer with different characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase mutant has an amino acid sequence having a mutant of E130D and Q481K; E130D, S325T and Q481K; E130D, S477F and Q481K; E130D, S325T, S477F and Q481K; E130D, S325T, S477G and Q481K in an amino acid sequence of polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase having 70% or more homology with an amino acid sequence of sequence number 76. A lactate polymer or lactate copolymer is prepared by culturing transformant transformed with a recombinant vector.
