PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of high display quality.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate having a pixel electrode arranged in each of pixels located in a line in a first direction, a counter substrate having counter electrodes facing the plurality of pixel electrodes, a liquid crystal layer that is held between the array substrate and counter substrate and contains liquid crystal molecules aligned substantially perpendicular to a substrate principal surface while electric field is not produced between the pixel electrodes and counter electrodes, alignment controlling means that are arranged between two pixels adjacent in the first direction, extend in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and are arranged every two pixels, and a voltage applying means for applying voltage of the same polarity to the pixel electrode of each of two pixels gripping the alignment controlling means with reference to a counter electrode potential. |
