<p>Disclosed are an image processing method and an image processing device that allows improved image prediction encoding efficiency. The pixels in every other diagonal line of a first image and of a second image different from the first image are eliminated, resulting in a first thinned-out image and a second thinned-out image, such that the pixels of the two images are arranged in a checkerboard pattern. A horizontal processing unit (31) performs horizontal processing for manipulating the layout of the pixels of the first and second thinned-out images in the horizontal direction; specifically, the horizontal processing unit (31) laterally packs the pixels of the first and second thinned-out images in the horizontal direction. A combining unit (33) generates, as an image for prediction encoding, a combined image combined by adjacently arranging the first and second thinned-out images after horizontal processing. The disclosed method may be applied for prediction encoding of a first and second image such as an L (Left) image and an R (Right) image forming a 3-D image.</p> |
