PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent ceramic which has high luminous efficiency as well as a high refractive index.SOLUTION: The translucent ceramic comprises a compound expressed by compositional formula Ba{Zr, Mg, Ta}Oas the main component, and, in which, to the main component, as an auxiliary component, NdOis added by an α mol pts. (wherein, α satisfies 0.002≤α≤0.02) (wherein, x, y, z, v all denote molar ratio, and, x+y+z=1, 3.980-α≤4x+2y+5z≤4,000, 1.000(1+α)≤v≤1.050(1+α), and 0.125≤x≤0.400 are respectively satisfied). |
